Where is the defrost timer in a Kenmore coldspot 106.5669-2501
Hi @lisad11 The refrigerator doesn’t have a separate defrost timer. The defrost function is initiated and controlled by the control board. What is the problem with the refrigerator? If it is a defrost problem e.g. refrigerator warm, freezer OK due to ice build up on evaporator fan or water leaking into the freezer compartment then it could be a faulty defrost heater, bi-metal defrost thermostat, blocked drain from under the evap unit to the evap pan under the compartments or worst case a faulty control board. Here’s some information that may help you: 10656692501refrigerator Techsheet This shows how to get into the diagnostic test mode and also has the wiring diagram etc. How to test a Bi-Metal thermostat 10656692501 Parts List If you have a faulty part, search online for the part number (as shown in the list) to find suppliers that suit you best.
I don’t think it has a timer, it does it by temperature Defrost Thermostat The defrost thermostat monitors the temperature of the evaporator coils. When the coils drop below a set temperature, the thermostat contacts close to allow power to flow to the defrost heater during the defrost cycle. In the defrost cycle, the defrost heater melts away any frost that may have accumulated on the evaporator coils. If the defrost thermostat is defective, the thermostat contacts will not close. As a result, the thermostat won’t provide power to the defrost heater. To determine if the defrost thermostat is defective, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the defrost thermostat does not have continuity when it reaches the low temperature of its operating range, replace it. https://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/…
@lisad11 take a look on here could be a different model but should be same location.
