The teardown for the Retina 5K 2015 onwards iMacs is almost exactly the same for eh mid-2017 5k models but the one part missing is the microphone connection. My iMac has dual microphone at the bottom of the enclosure with a thin flexible cable. However this was hidden under the logic board so I can’t see where too reconnect it to the logic board on reassembly? Any ideas? Thanks Petros
While the teardown are useful in learning about the basic construction there are not designed as a detailed guide to service a system. Often times I need to look at related guides to get to connections, if we look at the 2015 iMac iMac Intel 27" Retina 5K Display Logic Board Replacement guide jumping to Step49 the iSight and microphone cable connects to the logic board and Step50 we can also see where the headphone jack cable connects. Is this what you are looking for?
@danj your case has been taken to Meta and I am sure that TPTB will correct this on the very first business day. I think the last time I’ve seen that was quite a few years ago. If I remember right it was somebody that had a bit of hate for mayer. You do have to admit it is a bit ironic how people react to some unwanted help and how they feel picked on when language skills are questioned. Some of his answers are actually pretty good. :-) Double check your stats. They seem to change from what your image shows.
Now isn’t that nice? Can’t we just all get along or at least stay out of each other way instead of bickering and fingerpointing and trying to be one up on everybody? I think that things are moving along just nicely. With all the S*** that is going on in this world a urinating contest over who is right and who is wrong seems to be very immature.
