ok so I am in the process of upgrading a 5th to a 128GB drive with a small addin board. Initially when i put everything back together the click wheel was not working so I tore it apart again, checked the ribbon cable which may have not been fully inserted and put it back together. Now i am getting a white screen with hash marks on the left and right. Ran iTunes, it said it saw the device and went through a recovery but no change. I’ve got the device tore down again but everything looks fine, ideas? Update (08/28/2018) Update - Still the white screen with hash marks however I was able to sync music, create playlist and play music from the device thru iTunes.
@jbdive your iPod dispaly only has the backlight on. this could be a LCD screen issue as well as a torn/not properly inserted display ribbon cable. Check the connector carefully. Remember that the locking hasp is easily broken off.
