Hi all, I have a macbook air A1237 (original early 2008). I am wondering if someone knows how to diagnose what part of the logic board is failing? Symptoms are as follows: *When I power on, the sleep light turns on before the chime (as it is supposed to), and then a solid white screen. No logo, no blinking folder (with or without hdd, also the hdd I have does not have OSX installed). *After about 30 seconds to 1 minute, the caps lock functions. The graphics chip also seems to run hot. If I power off after running it for a couple minutes, the caps lock light seems to start functioning sooner after boot. *If I plug in an external monitor, I get the grey fabric pattern screen after about 3 minutes, but still nothing from the laptop screen. *I have a MAC OSX install usb that functions on other macs, but it never seems to boot on this mac (I’m assuming it doesn’t get past POST?) *brightness keys don’t work (I don’t know if they are supposed to before loading the OS, so maybe this doesn’t matter?) What I’ve tried: *SMC reset, PRAM reset (which both seem to function as expected: PRAM chimes a second time, the magsafe LED turns of when resetting SMC) Anything else I should be trying? Any suggestions on how to specifically diagnose what is wrong? I have replaced a ferite bead that had blown in the circuit for the LCD display. However, even if the display isn’t working, it seems it should still post/boot if there weren’t something else wrong. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
