My phone is randomly not receiving text messages from some friends. We have been texting back and forth with no problems, and all of a sudden I can’t receive their text messages. This has happened twice over the past 2 months. I don’t have any blocked numbers in “settings” so that isn’t the issue. They can receive my text messages and when they reply, it’s being reported that their text messages have been delivered. But they never show up on my phone. My friends have sent text messages on different days asking why they haven’t heard from me.

Hey jml222, here are some things you can try: Reset Network Settings Settings->General->Reset->Reset Network Settings Force Reset Hold the home and power buttons until the screen turns black and let go when you see the Apple Logo. Clean the SIM Card Eject your SIM card using the sim card ejecting tool or a needle. Press the tool in the hole on the side of your iPhone to take out the SIM tray (If you have don’t see a SIM tray on the side of your iPhone, follow the next advice). Take a can of compressed air and blow it inside carefully. Clean the SIM card as well. Contact Your Service Provider Contact your service provider and inform them about your issues. If they blame the network, tell them you’ll switch to a different carrier (lol). Turn on Airplane Mode Try leaving airplane mode on for 1 minute. Then test the messages. Restore Your Device If all the above don’t work do a clean factory restoration of the device using iTunes. -Let me know if this helps.

Why am I not receiving some of my text messages

The forced reset worked perfectly. At the time, I had an iPhone 4 so most of the other options didn’t apply to the iPhone 4.
