Is there a way to fix it? I’d prefer to keep my controller around rather than purchase another.

Hi! I might have a fix for you. I bought a new pair of headsets(steelseries arctic pro wired). I plugged the headphones in and they worked great. The next time I played, there was this hissing/static sound that didn’t change whatever i did. I even tried a different headset just to be sure. Here is how i fixed the problem. (Headphones must have own volume control!) Go to settings, devices and connections, accessories, three dots, volume, turn headset volume all the way up and try turning the mic monitoring down. Then turn down the volume on your headsets own control. Hope this works for

Hey man! I learned that a static charge is held in the power box if plugged in for a long time. Unplug it for a few minutes and plug back in. I just trying it on my friend headset and it’s clear as !&&* now. Good luck.

The problem lies with xbox having faulty audio ports in their controllers. They sell tool kits to replace the audio port inside your controller however it voids the warranty. They have seemed to have manufactured them purposely faulty for the continued purchasing of the over priced controllers. We have went through 7 controllers only to have the audio port to static and or go out completely within a few weeks of purchase. I recommend either purchasing an off brand controller or an audio adapter for the controller as this seems to be the only fix I have found so far. I have tried all the troubleshooting it tells you to go through and none of those worked. What did work was an adapter for myself and an off brand controller for my son. If there is a fix out there I would love to know myself.
