I have two Atari 5200 Trak-balls, and they seem to produce lots of jitter, however, they do respond; So I assume I can clean or restore some part easily to fix this. I’ve tried to oil the bearing and used alcohol to clean the contact points but still no luck. What should I do next?
they are not the greatest controllers, they break easy
I think it’s just a matter of cleaning them, since they are responding. So open the device and remove all the dirt and debris which have accumulated over all those years. It’s still the same basic principle as those old-skool mice.
