I replaced the battery in my phone and get the picture below. I hooked my phone to iTunes and tried to do a restore. I got a error saying that this phone can’t be restored because of unknown error. Could it be because I didn’t have consumer cellular unlock the phone?
I have never seen this happen after a battery install on the 8 series. There is nothing around the battery connector which might have been nudged that will cause this issue. Since the phone is not showing an apple logo and is going straight to recovery or DFU mode usually means there is a communication problem between the CPU and the NAND. The only thing I could think that would cause this is if you used heat to remove the screen and or battery. Also it doesn’t matter what lock status the phone is in as it will still be able to restore. If you have a microscope, multimeter and schematics you could check some of the circuits to make sure none are open if not you will need to send the phone to a reputable repairer.
You have to put the phone into dfu mode for iTunes to restore it. Google how to put it into dfu and follow the instructions.
