iPhone XS Max working great until phone screen went dark. Unable to do a forced reset. Alarms and Taptic Engine worked but the screen remained unresponsive. No history of water damage but a few minor hairline cracks are present towards the bottom rear of the phone.
The screen most likely went bad. I see it happen more commonly on the iPhone X but I’ve seen cases of it on other iPhones that use OLED panels like the XS max. Take it to a good local repair shop and they should be able to get ya squared away. Just make sure they’re at least using a hard OLED panel instead of LCD. LCD panels on OLED phones can lead to decreased battery life and damage to the display connectors due to their higher energy consumption. I recommend going for a soft OLED panel as that’s what apple and a lot of other manufacturers use but they are more expensive.
