My television displayed colorful vertical lines and then went black. The power light will light up and then fade out and then a few minutes later do it again and repeat. There is no sound and I checked the screen with a flashlight to see if there was anything showing on the display and there is not. I have model number: P502ui-B1E, it is a 50” P series. I am trying to determine whether it is worth replacing parts or just throwing out.

The error you describe sounds like either a bad main board or a bad T-con board. VIZIO is a company that does not support DIY repair or no service manuals are readily available.Also, they are insconsitsne t with parts and quality and in general use a hodge podge of parts to make things work. At this time you are more looking onto replacing boards without having the ability to test them ahead of time. I would try and get a few replacement boards like t-con or main board from a place that is inexpensive and has a decent return policy. That way you can return the boards if there is no change. Those are not bad TV’s just not the best quality and it would be a shame to just dump it in the landfill because of a failed board….
