First the volume went to 100 percent and started flipping through channels. I got the remote to try and turn down and it was a battle. When I released it started flipping through. I turned off with remote. Then I turned back on and it just constantly going through all sources. I unplugged tv I took batteries out of remote. I turned tv back on and can get it to stop flipping channels if I push the menu button on tv itself and then it just runs thru the menu options constantly. Is there any repair to this. I assume there is a board in the tv that is bad but can I unplug it and still use remote?
Hi @blapip23 , I can’t find a service manual for the TV but looking for some of the TV parts online I found that the TV control buttons and the IR sensor are on the same board so unfortunately unplugging the board means that the TV can’t be controlled by either the remote or the control buttons. It may be easier to simply change the board and see if that resolves the problem. I found this supplier by searching for Sanyo FW 32D08F IR board which shows that the board number is BA6AUCG0203 1 but yours may be different. Note what the seller in the example says about verifying that you get the correct board. Check the number that is printed on the board in your TV and then search online using that number to find suppliers that suit you. Update (11/02/2020) Hi @blapip23 Here’s an image from the user manual that shows the location of the IR window in the TV (remote control sensor).
(click on image to enlarge for better viewing) The IR sensor on the board would be directly behind the sensor window so if the mainboard was mounted as low as the window then most probably the IR/control button board would be behind it. If the cable that you removed from the mainboard goes in that direction then that would confirm it as looking at the image of the IR board in the board link I posted above there is only a short cable connected to the sensor board. Don’t know if you saw the board in the link above, for some reason the page in the link opens about halfway down and you need to scroll back up to the top to see the item
