Why Does My Ipad Just Flicker When Its Connected To The Charger Ipad Wi Fi

it does go completely black  when I have it plugged up and I hold both the power and home buttons down at the same time so that is the only time the flickering stops

I think the power button needs to be replaced if it may be putting to much pressure on the button
