Chosen Solution
I was playing Quake 4 when all of a sudden the screens flickers I see vertical lines and the screen turns half green and half blue. Tried resetting the PRAM to no avail. When I restart or turn on the laptop, I don’t see the apple logo, just a light vertical white line half inch wide. What else I can do, is it the video card or the screen? Please help.
This is usually a sign of the GPU overheating. It may need the cooling system cleaned out, it may begin working again after it sits for a while. I would recommend cleaning the cooling system out and re-pasting the cpu and the gpu. In some cases it can overheat and never have an image on the screen. If this happens it can need a logic board repair such as reballing.
