Recently my ps4 has been acting up everytime i put any game in it makes a weird noise inside and after about 30 secs it sounds like i just put a disc inside when its already in and another 20 secs it stops and on my tv shows its a unrecognized disc. Help me!! Ive tried doing the software update hard resetting it and cleaned the dust off from the sides and also ive tried standing it up and put the disc in but nothing works!!
It’s not the laser. If you tap above where the disc goes a couple seconds after you insert the disc it will work and read the disc. If it was a bad laser it would never read. And on the other hand my system is less than a year old how can my laser already be bad. Plus I’ve owned PS my whole life(28yo) and this is the first real problem that seems to have no answer to why it does this. I atleast hope the tap tip
Your PS4 most likely needs a new laser. The lasers go bad over time and they just won’t read anything. From your description of the problem that’s probably what’s causing it.

If it reads when you tap on it, it’s probably not a broken laser, but a dirty/misaligned one.
My PS4 slim will take in the disk and make a weird clicking noise like the rollers are still grabbing for something, but the disk will never spin and the unrecognized disk notification pops up. I’ve tried opening it up and cleaning the dust out, cleaning the laser with a q-tip, tapping over the disk, and even putting the disk in vertically while tapping and nothing works.
Having the issue of no discs reading at all. Can just play digital downloaded games. Also have 1st gen 2nd series so have to settle til ps5 bc not spending 300 on another ps4. Sell physicals and buy digtal (buy same game twice) only other option i guess

So basically my PS4 is driving me &&^&^$^ crazy with all its $@$*!& &&^&^$^ hardware AND software not to mention it; turn on and back off by itself from time to time, it just shuts down by itself while in game, the disc ejects by itself, unrecognizable disc, it just doesnt stop reading and a bunch of &&^&^$^ software ERRORS TOO cheap SONY CRAP once again time to switch up.

My PS4 doesn’t eject disks, but after doing manual eject it says disc unrecognizable… please help how do I fix this…
All you have to do is turn off your ps4 for 10 minutes then turn it on
If tapping it doesn’t work, replace the laser. If it does work, then it probably needs a new spinner or new magnet.
