My pc does not display on the monitor. The fans and hard drive are running and the power light is on.The monitor is working as I tried a laptop on it.

There are a few things that can cause this. The video cable could be defective, the graphics adapter has failed. You confirmed that the monitor is good. Try using a different video cable, you can try using VGA if the VGA port is available on the monitor and the desktop, Display port and HDMI cables frequently fail. If a known good cable does not work then check the video adapter. If the video adapter is a separate plug into the mother board, then try removing and reseating it. If the video adapter is built into the motherboard then check for loose cables.

Are you getting anything at all on the monitor or does it go into sleep mode? Do you have a graphics card in the pc? If so maybe you have it plugged into the motherboard not the graphics cards display port. Other than that I would restart and spam f10 and see if it will go into the bios.
