A month or so ago the sound had become very distorted especially when music is playing in the background of anything transmitting on the tv. How can this be fixed?
@lauralynn check your sounds by either connecting an external audio source. Soundbar or speaker as well as try a headset. If the sound is “normal “ with that, check your speakers on the TV. Sound issues are commonly caused by a bad audio IC on the main board. Let us know the exact model of your TV so we can try to help you further.
@George baraque, Assuming the the audio is distorted when using the TV speakers and the external audio option and as you didn’t say what your exact problem is, it’s not easy to answer your question as to what the problem may be, so here’s an image taken from the service manual for the TV that shows how to get into the Self Check Function that will show if the audio IC is OK. If it shows as faulty the IC location is on the H board as shown on p.37 of the manual
