Replaced an iPhone XR screen because original was cracked causing random touches to happen, fitted new screen as per tutorial, everything worked. Asked my daughter for the password and she couldn’t remember, so connected to iTunes to restore and ever since there is no touchscreen function at all, I have tried all obvious things like reinstalling itunes, re-restoring iPhone, re seating the connectors, I even returned the screen for a replacement and tried a new one and nothing will get it to work, replacement screen is aftermarket oem from repair outlet, out of ideas now
If you have tried the original screen, which had touch function before replacement, and it hasn’t got any touch now, either something is up with the software you’ve loaded in. Which seems unlikely since you’ve would have reset it to get around the forgotten password. Something also could have occurred during screen replacement. Based on your description I would wager it’s the latter. Pry damage is pretty common on most iPhones and the perimeter of the display connectors on the XR are littered with tiny little electronic components that could have been dislodged by a tool during the repair. It may have been holding on by a thread for the initial testing, but subsequently failed, software updates are particularly good at pushing borderline components over the edge. You can check this yourself if you have something to use to get a close look (magnifying glass, microscope or other magnifier of some kind). The connectors are surrounded with a foam sticker that you can peel off, and under that will be a bevy of tiny parts that look kind of like Lego on the board. These are also covered in this area with squishy, black, protective coat. But you may be able to tell if something has been disturbed regardless. You’ll probably need to take it to a shop with a microsolderer on staff to have it repaired, but that’s any easy job if you’ve just knocked off some components.
