Why there is a harsh zizzz(electrical in more sense) sound coming from the earphone’s mic or external mic when i connect it to combo jack( lenovo ideapad 320). I want to record my voice and that’s why i opt in " listen to the device" opt in sound microphone properties?. i did everything from updating bios to window and windows audio driver but failed. if its a hardware problem then why? when using audio splitter with this earphones’s mic works fine but ext mic don’t? I know its little complicated so hope i describe my problem clearly.

Hi, What type of plug connector is on the ext. mic, a 4 pin plug or a 3 pin plug? If it is a 3 ring plug then it won’t work properly as the combo unit like the socket in a mobile phone, it needs the 4 ring plug. If it is a 3 ring plug then it needs to be changed to a 4 ring plug and the mic wires need to be connected as shown in the image below

By this I mean that one is wired to the OMTP standard and the other is to the CTIA (AHJ) standard. This means that the mic circuit is reversed. Here’s an image of what I mean showing the two wiring standards. Note that the microphone lead is reversed with the ground lead
