Chosen Solution
Ok, to clarify this happened last year and I’ve been looking for a solution. So I was leaving, I shut it down, then left. After that weekend, I powered it on and apparently, nothing happened. A black screen with no backlight and CPU Fan not on, no beep codes, no POST, just nothing, it wouldn’t even attempt to boot up Windows 10. It also had two lights on when I had a Hard Drive in it. An Airplane mode light and light bulb light. I removed the Hard Drive and put it in a different laptop to get my stuff back and formated it then put Windows 7 Professional on it, on a HP Laptop. So I’m stuck here until I get a decent answer and solution on why this is happening and how to fix it. Please Help Me!!!
Hi @ Sridhar Reddy777, With the laptop turned on, connect an external monitor to the laptop and check if there is an image displayed on it (don’t forget to press Fn + F8 (both keys together) to toggle between the laptop and external screens). Even a TV can be an external monitor as long as it has HDMI inputs and you have the correct cable to connect between the TV and the laptop. If you see an image on the external monitor, toggle back to the laptop screen and try shining a torch at an angle close to the laptop screen to check if you can detect an image at all. It will be very faint if it is there. If it is there then you have a backlight problem. If it is not there and there is no image on the external monitor either then you have a motherboard problem
The problem can be due to different parts. First, try to use an external monitor, if the external monitor works then the problem is the display. If the external monitor does not display then it is the graphics adapter, which means that the problem is the system board. As you mention that the processor fan does not work then use a meter to check the power supply.
