All batteries eventually go bad. It’s probably the battery. I would buy a good replacement. A few thing to test first are to remove the battery from the laptop and let the battery sit for a few minutes. Put the battery back in and connect the charge cable. Does the laptop power on fine without the battery in and just the charge cable? If so, the battery needs to be replaced.
