Chosen Solution
Hi, So a couple of weeks ago, my laptop tried to run an update as I was shutting it down, I needed to bring my laptop with me so I shut it. When I tried using it again, it would turn on, but the screen was blank. I took the advice I saw online, I unplugged it, took out the battery, held the power button to drain it, plugged it back in without the battery, and it started up again. It worked fine for a few weeks, but now is doing that more consistently. Yesterday, I tried several times the method I described above to fix it and it wouldn’t work. Eventually, I got it started again, and rebooted it to see if that would help. Today I tried to turn it on and it wouldn’t the first time. So I held down the power button the second time and it worked. I’m not sure if this is an indication that my laptop is on it’s last legs or if I need to try something other than rebooting it. Any help in identifying the problem or possible solution would be great. Thank you.
It is possible that the update was updating files when it was interrupted and different parts of the operating system are failing. If you have not run the updates, run them again and let the computer finish updating. If it is still having problems then you will need to run the restore to fix the problem, you can download it from Microsoft and save it to USB thumb drive or burn a CD. Good luck.
