Chosen Solution

When I got my echo spot I really liked it but then for some reason it started flickering and I tried everything. Dimming the display, getting a new power supply and factory resetting it. So I really hope someone can come up with an answer for it.

I was ready to toss the spot–though it’s one of my favorite Alexa devices. Driving me nuts, the screen flicker. Hard reset, moving to a new location, just couldn’t fix it.   SOLUTION FOR MY FLICKERING SPOT: Before I tossed it, I thought I’d try the power supply for from the Echo Show I have in the Kitchen. Not expecting much, I plugged it in. And what do you know! No flickering, even at the brightest level! So the obvious take away is that the power supply or cable are bad. But I swapped the power supply with the Echo Show (hard to keep all the echo products straight), and it booted right up, no flickering. So everything is working, except I have a black power supply for the white spot, and a white (found out these two words together are banned–appropriately) power supply for the black Show

FIXED! I had this same problem with my Spot and tried resetting, etc. several times. The problem always came back. I think some kind of charge builds up in the capacitor due to the display screen being always on, month after month. Whatever the reason, I found my solution by accident. I sleep with the spot on a shelf near the head of my bed. Sometimes even the low light from the time display would annoy me (even more so when it was jittering! I was mad at the thing and didn’t even want to look at it.). So I simply told Alexa to “turn off the display”. The lights go off and the Spot display goes dark. The next time I ask the Spot a question (like: “Alexa, what time is it?), the display comes back on. I frequently do this overnight and have noticed that I have not seen a screen jitter since I started. Even if I don’t do it for weeks. So maybe, like I mentioned earlier, something just builds up from the display being on all the time. Who knew it could be cured with a little rest now and again? Loving my Spot again! Hope this helps others. Give it a try and please report back to see if this fix is more than just anecdotal. Thanks!

It doesen’t work in my case. Tried and it failed.

The latest fix is this: Do factory reset. After that check for updates in the settings and then download those. I did it twice to make sure it took and that fixed it for me. The factory reset is required so that the latest updates become available. Good luck. UPDATE: A day later and it’s flickering again. Next I tried the Echo Show power supply suggestion from a brand new Echo Show 5 and it did NOT fix the issue. The only other ‘fix’ I will try is asking Alexa to turn off the display each night when I go to bed and then turn it back on in the morning. That worked for me!

I am going to try this Albert as mine has started to flicker again and if this doesn’t fix it it is going in the trash and will never buy one of these again. I am tired of messing with it. Ok completed the steps nothing changed it is now in the trash problem solved.

Sometimes, when the screen of your Echo Spot is high on brightness, it may start flickering. … Go to your Echo Spot settings and lower the scale of brightness. As you set the brightness of your device to a low level, you would see the flickering disappearing. Also, turn off the adaptive brightness option (if included)

Check if it needs a firmware upgrade. It fixed my flicker issue.

3-6-22 I simply disconnected the device from the power cord, then disconnected the power cord from the AC outlet (in this case, a power strip). Left everything alone for about 12 hours, then plugged everything in again. Voila! Flickering solved for now.
