Just as the title says my MBP fan wont automatically speed up anymore and its been going on for a while actually and I can’t seem to find the problem. I tried SMC reset multiple times, the vents are clean but yet no luck. The fans do work I know because I currently use iStats to manually speed up the fans but it tends to be an annoyance is there a fix to my problem? Also it hasn’t always been like this, I’m not sure when the fans actually stopped automatically speeding up it could be the software but I haven’t always been using it to control the fan I actually only used that aspect when it stopped controling the fan speed automatically. P.S. I tried uninstalling iStats and then SMC reset, no luck. I also just recently reinstalled Yosemite OS to see if that works and also no luck. Update Ok here is the output.

Update

There I’m pretty sure when the temps get that high the fans would at least go above 2000 rpm. Update (05/10/2015)

Okay here is another screenshot. After turning off iStats from controlling the macbook fans it does work and start to speed up but it seemed to start a little over 200 degrees, now is that normal? I thought even around 140 the fans would speed up even a little but it stays at a constant 2000 rpm.

How about using a better tool to monitor what the sensors are telling you. I like this tool: Temperature Gauge Pro. Take a screenshot of the output and post it here for us to see. It’s possible you have a bad fan but without more diagnostics its hard to tell. In any case make sure you disable iStat as you don’t want it confusing things (or any other SMC tools).
