my iphone just started doing this yesterday, yes i do have a little crack in the screen but its been there for months so i dont understand why its deciding to act up now. i have a warranty on the phone but since it has that small crack i cant get it fixed or replaced. i read online to reset the phone and when i did i erased everything in the phone and it made everything 10x worse. i turned it off and it came back on by its self. i just turned it off for good now. im not avaliable for my next upgrade until the new iphone comes out. which is why im on here tring to get some sort of help. i havent dropped it recently or got it wet.
The touch screens have 2 layers. The screen and a digitizer. Besides that you have a really small crack that not affect the screen, the digitizer start slowly to not work well. Because the finish is like glass that is have a small crack and slowly become more and more , that way the digitizer stop working. Sadly there is no real fix for it , but you can change the screen that is supper expensive. You can also try something that is not really fixit and may not fix your phone. !You can try it with your own risk! That i test it in my old Sony… I put the phone for 10 to 15 minutes in direct sunlight, and get fixed for a while! I cant quarantine any success of further damage on the strange iPhone X screen , but you can test it if you will got to replace the screen. !You can try it with your own risk!
The digitizer has failed on the screen and needs a new screen.
