Chosen Solution
Whenever I switch off my laptop, it doesn’t turn off, it just goes to a black lit screen (no I am not joking) and stays like that until the battery runs out. After that, it doesn’t even turn on for days. It does switch on after staying Idle for a week or two but the problem always repeats when I turn it iff again. P.S. It is very old but runs perfectly when it is on, the problem only occurs when I switch it off.
Amaan Shikoh this sounds like an issue with your OS as @jayeff is already hinting. You can check if there is a BIOS update for your computer or re-install your OS. In your command line type shutdown -s -f and see if that works.
