MacBook 2016 display was taken over by lines and then completely obscured.

Hi @etranger, Your issue is a faulty LCD return flex. Dust & debris gets under the flexes to the screen and in time cause pitting of the data lines. The answer is a replacement screen. To prevent it from happening would recommend an artist paint brush to gently clean along the bottom of the screen baffle once a week or so.
