My macbook recently got the infamous question mark folder and failed to boot so i did my research and bought a hdd cable, i followed the instructions on this website and replaced the cable however nothing changed…. I really don’t know what’s the problem can someone help?

Joseph ( @joesipaq ) is correct you could have gotten a bad cable. But your drive may need a little TLC here as well. Are you able to boot up under an external drive? If you are see if Disk Utility see’s the drive. You may need to reformat it. If you can’t the drive make be also damaged or the wrong one for this system. Keep in mind this systems SATA ports are only SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) so make sure the drive you have is able to run at this speed (review the drives spec sheet).
