There’s a metal component on the logic board that appears to be getting hot. I’m not sure if it’s an issue with the heat sink.
This has started happening after I spilled liquid over the keyboard. I then opened it up and cleaned the logic board and all the parts. I am considering replacing the I/O ports/boards. Can anyone point out why this could be happening or what that metal component is? I believe it’s the metal covering the RAM. Update (08/24/2018) Still trying to solve this one. The RAM appears to be getting very hot.
How do I remove the metal protectors?
Hey chrono If water damage has occurred then you may be in the process of shorting a component out. You should take the lid off the back of the MacBook and remove all the covers from all the parts. You will need to clean and let dry al the covers and components that could have been at risk. If overheating or burning is occuring this is a part on the Logic Board being damaged.
