Hi, recently I dropped my iphone 8 and it smashed right across the microphone receiver and the small dot above it (camera lens?) so much that there is missing glass right where the dot is. My iphone was working fine for about a week and a half after being dropped, and there was no issues with the camera. However the other day I woke up to my iphone constantly restarting over and over as if in a loop. It has calmed down and I can use it a little, but it will restart after a few minutes, or when I enter an app, or sometimes after I turn it off. I checked the analytics and data, and it came up with ‘panic full’, corresponding for every time it happened. However, it has changed to Panic full, to panic base, Exc user fault, Analytics never, analytics journal, analytics daily to now, analytics 90 day. I have no idea what these mean. I read that someone said that kernel panics can be caused by front facing cameras? I would like to see if i can do my utmost to repair this phone without taking it to apple or a repair store, most of them are closed due to corona virus anyhow. Thankyou! :(
If you follow the repair guides on ifixit.com for you device, you can run a quick little test. Seeing as you damaged the front camera, I wonder if there may be a short causing it to reboot. You can order ifixit’s screen replacement kit that’ll have the tools you’ll need to perform the repairs. I would first test it with the front camera assembly disconnected. If that’s the case, just order a replacement. I recommend Mobile Sentrix or Mobile Defenders.
