Chosen Solution
I replaced the cracked screen on a kindle fire. Now when it powers on the picture is washed out and light. The screen color is iridescent and almost like a rainbow. Changing the brightness on the device doesn’t help.
I had the same problem, could not describe it better. I will add that mine had a faint horizontal line across the display. To fix it: There is a protective film on the INSIDE of the new digitizer. I removed it and the display was back to normal, and the line was gone as it was on the film.
