My Samsung washing machine Model WF50K7500AV/A2, purchased 12/22/2016 stopped mid-cycle and is completely dead. The “User Interface Control Board” or “ Display board as I’ll call it, is completely black/blank. If I press the POWER button on it, I hear the ‘powering down/off’ chime only (which is random) Nothing lights up and no other chime is hear than the ‘‘powering down/off” one. I checked the main fuse box and fuse was not tripped. Also checked outlet to see if other appliances work and they do. Unplugged unit for hours, and plugged back in to see if it would reset, but no change. After (draining water from bottom) and taking top off to unlock the front loading door), I looked at all (wire) connections and they looked okay; and also looked at display board to see if everything looked okay on it, and it seemed okay. (I looked for burnt areas on board, which some DIY’ers on YouTube suggested looking for). All look okay. Tried various things from YouTubers such as spinning the drum quickly for display to come back on; and another saying to hold certain buttons down for specific amounts of time to reset; but nothing works. (These suggestions may not have been specific to make/model, but thought I’d give them a try.) I’m assuming the User Interface Control Board /display board is bad? These are non-returnable and over $100+. Could this be problem? And if I bought a new one and it didn’t work, is there a market for them? I looked on ebay and offer up but didn’t see for my specific model. Certified Samsung Service Repair in my area are quoting a min of $200+ w/repair as they need to come out to investigate. Thank you very much.
Hi @katn , I don’t know the washer but looking at the wiring diagram on p.54 of the service manual, the power to the machine and the control panel etc goes through a noise filter, part #8 frame and cover parts diagram If the noise filter is faulty it may prevent any power getting to the control board. If you have a DMM (digital multimeter) and know how to use it safely when AC power is present, then it may be worth testing to see if it is faulty or not. If AC power is getting through the filter to the control board then it may be the control board. Be safety aware when testing as AC power can be lethal. If you don’t know what you’re doing, then don’t do it! Here’s a video that shows how to replace the noise filter in a Samsung machine. It may not be exactly the same for your model but may still help. The service manual I linked shows how to access the filter - see p.14
