i can not read i see colors and lines but can not make out whats displayed

Hi @ocate , What is the model number of the laptop? Can you view the maker’s logo OK when the laptop is turned on? If so try starting the laptop in “safe mode” and check if the display is OK. It will look different but it should be legible. Search online for (insert OS i.e. Win7, Win 8.1 or Win 10) safe mode to find out how to do this. if it is OK when in safe mode then there is a driver problem Post an image of the problem back here. Here’s how to do this on ifixit Adding images to an existing question Try connecting an external monitor to the laptop and check if its display is OK. Nowadays most laptops have a HDMI port so you can use a TV as an external monitor as long as you have the appropriate cable to connect the two together. Usually with Inspiron laptops you have to also press Fn + F1 (both together) to extend the display to the external monitor but check the user guide for your particular model to see what keys are needed. If the external display is OK then it is either a video cable problem, a video cable connection problem (at either end, motherboard or LCD panel) or an LCD panel problem. If the external display is also faulty it is a motherboard problem
