The light sometimes comes on when door is opened but most times it doesn’t come on. We replaced the 2 switches above each door but still have the problem. We are wondering if there is a short in the wiring but have no way to diagnose.

Hi, Here’s the circuit diagram for the refrigerator that will help you to find the problem. The door switch (R door perception switch) is connected to the Control board Connector #5 - pins 1 & 2. Turn off the refrigerator and disconnect the power from the refrigerator and then disconnect the two wires from the refrigerator door switch at the control board connector. Place an Ohmmeter across the two wires and check that it shows a short circuit i.e. 0.00 Ohms when the door is opened and that there is an open circuit i.e. OL or no reading when the door is shut, to prove the wiring from the switch to the control board is OK. If the wiring tests OK reconnect the two wires to the board and then reconnect the power to the refrigerator and turn it on. The power for the refrigerator lights (R-lamps) is supplied on the pink wire from the control board, Connector #2 - pin 5. Use a Voltmeter to test for voltage on the connector pin that feeds the lamps when the door is opened. If there is no voltage at the pin the problem is in the control board. Here is the wiring for the control board lamp circuit. Relay RY4 is operated by the controller IC to supply the power to the light. If there is voltage then the problem is in the wiring from the control board pin to the bulbs. The circuit shows that there are two lights for the refrigerator. Did you check for power at both of them if they aren’t co-located? You only said that there was no power at the light. If the two lights are not co-located but are in separate locations in the refrigerator compartment, then the power may come into one and then multiple onto the next light and it may be a faulty connection at the first light which may not be the one that you checked if you didn’t check both that is. Just a thought on this Be safety aware as it seems that the lights are powered at mains power supply voltage
