I get no image on screen when it’s plugged into my Macbook Pro. My Macbook recognizes a monitor has been plugged in but no image. Can I easily repair it?
@Steve Luthye - Lets give this a try! Take a flash light pressed against the display, do you see the faint image of your desktop icons? If you do they you know the backlight logic within the display needs repairs. I often encounter burnt power transistors or coils which are on the backside of the logic board. So you’ll want to follow this guide Apple LED Cinema Display 27" LED Panel Replacement to get logic board out. Once out see if you see any damaged component/s
It may not be something that needs a repair! A lot of people run in to this same issue and most of the time it can be fixed by a specific order of powering the devices. First off go ahead and power down the Macbook pro. Now make sure that the cinema display is plugged into the Macbook pro, all three cables. USB, Mini display, and a power cable. Now boot the Macbook Pro, and if all is okay with the monitor it should power on at this point with the Macbook pro. Let me know if this helped!
