Okay so I bought everything to get my new pc off the ground, except I’m pretty sure I got a DOA motherboard. Please check my work so I know I actually have a bad component and aren’t stupid. It’s a Ryzen 3 1200 system using a MSI Tomahawk B350 board (which is apparently prone to being doa) and an 8gb stick of g skill aegis. I know it’s not the power supply because I tested it, and this is the only am4 board I have so I can’t test the rest of the system. The reason I think it’s the motherboard is because when I try to power it on nothing happens. No lights turn on, no fans turn, nothing. I tryed with and without a video card and nothing changed. I tryed reseating the memory, restating the power connectors… nothing. If you have any suggestions please do say something. Thanks in advanced

I would ask you to short the power pins on the JFP front panel header on the motherboard but I’m not familar with the pinouts, use your motherboard user manual to located the connector pins for the power button for your computer case. You can short those two pins for power button to test if you have a faulty power button or not. If it still does not turn on then I’m leaning either towards faulty motherboard or power supply. Power supply can be tested using the paper clip test but everything connected to the power supply must be disconnected before doing the paperclip test. Actually figured out my issue, was trying to short pins on the JCOM header instead of the JFP header…
