MacBook has been working perfect, but lately it is going into a black screen while I am using it….it does not go into sleep mode…..I can see still up and running but the screen just decide to go black. Usually if I close the lid and wait about 5 min….when I open it up…the screen will come back on……but after a few minutes back to the same thing. been trying different things…still no luck
This is a known issue with the 13" 2016 models; Apple even has a quality program that covers it. https://support.apple.com/13-inch-macboo… Although it doesn’t cover the 15" models, I’ve seen the same thing happening on a number of them. Short version, you need a new display; part number 661-06375 for Space Gray, 661-06376 for Silver. If your display has no signs of physical damage it’ll cost you $530; with damage it’s $620. If you call Apple and play the right song for them, they MAY give you a CS code to get the screen replaced for free. They’ve been known to do stuff like that (“surprise and delight”). Good luck.
