I recently bought a battery from iFixit for my 13” MacBook Pro Retina late 2013 model. I finally changed it last night, and started to calibrate it as per the instruction card that came with the battery. This morning the battery was about 30% so I kept using my Mac until it suddenly turned off and I couldn’t turn it back on. I connected it to the charger and managed to turn it on to find that the brand new battery capacity dropped from 100% to 69% and a warning saying “Service Battery”.

I’m certain there was a disclaimer on ifixit that says you may have issues reading the battery. Or you could have a defective battery. Contact ifixit and see what they can do.

Lets get a better idea on what’s happing here, install this gem of an App CoconutBattery post a snapshot of the apps main window here for us to see. Do one with the MagSafe plugged in while the charge is low and a second one with the MagSafe disconnected. Adding images to an existing question
