Chosen Solution
A few weeks ago the cat sat on the remote. Ever since the screen goes completely black while watching. Sound is fine. If i power tv off everything comes back on but after a few the screen goes off again. Reset to factory settings twice. Unplugged multiple times. While the screen is black i am able to control the sound but the only way to get anything on screen is to power it off/on. It’s an Insignia brand. The tv is 5 years old
Ezretta Singleton ones the TV turns black shine a flashlight beam at an angle against the screen and see if you can still make out any shapes etc. If so it is your backlight array that has failed. If not then it could be related to the power board, main board or T-Con board. We would need to know the exact model. Ultimately you will have to remove the back from your TV and take a look at the boards. Check for obviously failed components as well as wiring etc. You can always post some images of those boards with your question. That way we can see what you see.
