When I plug in my USB camera to my tablet, the default camera app launches, the USB plug lights up, the LEDs around the camera lens can be turned on, however, no image ever shows up on the tablet screen., only a black screen. The same camera works fine on my Samsung Galaxy S5 phone.
I followed your product link. Your probkem is listed under there second page of features. “Support android phone has OTG and UVC function after install.” ( This is why phone worked. ) (“CameraFi” app )from google store,,such as Samsung Galaxy S4 S5 S6, Note 2, Note 3, Note 4, Note 5 ,HTC M9 ,M9+,M8,LG G4 etc" (So install CameraFi and you should be good to go.) Hope this helped. This is my first day on ifixit and first attempted answer..
Try this… Using CameraFi.. When I plugged the endoscope in to my “Fusion 5” budget tablet using the micro-USB plug the lights came on but no picture. In Settings, the camera is recognised as “USB 2.0 PC Cam (Image Processor)” and video size as “640x480, YUYV, 30fps”. No amount of tapping etc could make it produce a picture. However, in the endoscope box there was a micro-to-standard USB adaptor. When I plugged the micro USB into the adaptor and the adaptor into the tablet it worked perfectly! Of course, your tablet needs a standard USB socket for this to work. As to why this works, I have no idea! Endoscope also works straight away with my HTC One phone and a 5 yr old Samsung laptop but not at all with my Blackview budget phone. Something to do with hardware/software compatibility?
