When I power it on it stays on for a minute then says battery too low must shut down . Then it won’t charge.
Let me preface my response with the fact that I’m not familiar with your tablet, but I have worked on a lot of similar electronics. Your tablet is shutting down because it doesn’t have enough power to run. In most cases, a device will still power up if it’s plugged in to an AC adapter even if the battery is dead or non-functional, so it puts the likelihood that your battery is bad way down on the list of things that could be wrong, although it’s still possible; there are a few devices that will only run off the battery even if they’re plugged in. If that were the case you should still see some indication that the tablet is charging (or trying to). So at this point it looks like your tablet isn’t getting power. Here are the possibilities I can think of, in order of likelihood. Your AC adapter isn’t working. If possible, try another one, or if you have a voltmeter, try to measure the voltage it’s putting out. Your tablet should have its voltage requirement printed somewhere on a label and that’s what you should see with a voltmeter. There could be dirt or corrosion in the power socket that is keeping the plug from making contact. Look inside it with a flashlight and maybe a magnifying glass and see if there’s anything down in there blocking the plug. Depending on the size of the plug, you may be able to clean it with a toothpick or a pin.Your power port connector could be damaged and isn’t passing the power along to the motherboard. Sometimes you can get an intermittent connection by wiggling the plug in the socket or pressing in all different directions; up, down, left, right, etc. Watch for any indication that it’s charging while you do that; if the tablet is on the battery indicator should change to show it’s charging, and if it’s off it should have some other indication such as an LED or an image on the display. If this is the problem the connector would have to be replaced by someone able to disassemble electronics and with some skill at soldering. This is the least likely, but it’s always possible that a power control IC on the motherboard has failed and can no longer distribute power to the rest of the board and the battery. This type of failure would require advanced soldering skills and equipment or replacement of the motherboard.
Another possibility is that it is a software issue. Lenovo troubleshooting guide here may help you sort this out. A soft or (less desirable) hard reset may fix your problem. Note:. Before doing a hard reset make sure you know your google account and password in order to access the device… in a hard reset all your data will be erased from the device. Any backups you have made can be used to restore whatever you have backed up. If you have no backup anything you’ve saved online should be recoverable by default your photos for example get saved unless you opted not to use the service or have no connectivity. Do NOT do a hard reset if you don’t know your account and password!!!
