My phone died for low battery. Then wouldn’t charge anymore. Won’t even show anything if I plug it into my apple desktop.

Troubleshooting charging problems starts with a usb ammeter and known good parts, i.e. known good battery and charge port.

A usb ammeter will tell you if the charger voltage (5v) is doing anything or just sitting there. A normally charging phone will consume about 1A of charging current. Usb ammeters are not expensive and everyone should have one. I’m not sure if iFixit sells them or not, but if not we have them at iPad Rehab supply if you can’t find one. The usb ammeter can help you figure out if one of your cables or charging blocks is bad by showing you what is up with charging current as you swap them around using a device that does charge.

After you know your cables are working, then try a new battery and charge port (overlaid, not fully installed) Use an iFixit guide to help you. If the usb ammeter shows charging then install and you’re done. If not, then the last option is to send the phone out to a microsolderer who can troubleshoot the tristar and tigris chips that commonly get damaged from use of gas station chargers that don’t have built in surge protection like the certified MFI cables.
